Melanotan II

Melanotan II is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide structurally derived from alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). It is defined by a lactam bridge between Asp and Lys residues that constrains the backbone into a ring, conferring greater conformational rigidity and enzymatic stability relative to the linear endogenous peptide. The molecule is supplied as a research reagent for in vitro and preclinical laboratory investigation only.

In experimental systems, Melanotan II is characterized as a non-selective agonist at melanocortin receptors (MC1R, MC3R, MC4R and MC5R).
