How to Verify Any Peptide COA With the Issuing Laboratory
A certificate is a claim until the laboratory that signed it confirms it. The 60-second verification workflow, the red flags, and a worked example you can run right now.

Anyone can produce a convincing PDF. Templates for certificates of analysis are trivial to copy, logos are trivial to paste, and a purity figure costs nothing to type. So the question that actually matters when you're vetting a research-material vendor — any vendor, ours included — is not "does this product have a COA." It is: can the laboratory that supposedly signed it confirm it exists?
This is a sixty-second check. Here is the full workflow, vendor-agnostic first, then a worked example against our own paperwork.
The workflow, for any vendor
- Find the laboratory on the certificate. A real COA names its author: laboratory name, address, and a signatory. No lab name, or a lab with no verifiable existence — stop here; you already have your answer.
- Go to the laboratory's own website. Not a link the seller gave you inside their own domain — the lab's independent site, reached on its own. A seller-hosted "verification" page verifies nothing; you'd be asking the claimant to confirm the claim.
- Look for the lab's verification path. Reputable testing labs increasingly publish one: a lookup page that takes a code or certificate number. If the laboratory offers no way to confirm its own certificates, the certificate's value rests entirely on the seller's honesty — which is the thing you were trying not to rely on.
- Enter the access code from the certificate. The code is printed on the certificate itself (on ours: in bold under the QR code in the header, and again in the footer).
- Compare, field by field. The lab's record should show the same product, the same lot number, the same results, and the signatory. A mismatch on any of these is not a clerical quirk — it is the finding.
Red flags, ranked
- No laboratory named — the certificate is self-issued, and the purity figure on it is marketing until someone independent stands behind it.
- Named lab doesn't exist — search the name and address independently. A fabricated laboratory has been the tell in more than one contamination story in this category.
- No verification path at the lab — not automatically damning (not every lab has built one), but it means the certificate cannot be independently confirmed, and you should weigh it accordingly.
- Code returns nothing — the strongest signal on this list. A code the issuing laboratory cannot resolve is the clearest available sign of a fabricated certificate. One honest caveat: labs retire or migrate records, so give a vendor the chance to explain — and judge them on the speed and quality of that explanation.
- Record resolves but doesn't match — wrong product, wrong lot, different results than the PDF shows. This is worse than no record at all.
The worked example — run it now
Our lots are tested by ILS Laboratories (San Diego, CA), and every certificate carries their access code. Take lot BC10-2026-001 of BPC-157: its certificate carries access code WB5BX29R. Go to the laboratory's verification page at ils-lab.com/verify, enter the code, and the lab's own record comes back — product, lot, the full result table, and the lab director's signature. We do not host that page and cannot edit it, which is precisely the point.
Every published lot, with its code, is listed on our verification page — most rows also carry a direct link to the laboratory's record for that lot, read off the QR code the lab prints on the certificate. The codes are on the paper in your order too; you never need our site in the loop at all.
